issuing a quick update this morning to issue a winter weather
advisory for freezing drizzle for rosebud county and areas west.
calls to the county dispatch centers this morning indicate
freezing drizzle causing numerous accidents. do think the threat
of freezing drizzle will end by late morning as the sun comes out
so only put it out through noon. no other changes made at this
time and will look at things over the next couple hours to see if
any other updates are needed. solum

the latest model runs are in generally fair agreement for the
extended period. the general pattern consists of a broad upper-
level trough over the eastern conus with an upper-level ridge
over the western conus. the gfs and ecmwf track an upper-level
low south across the pacific coast by mid-week. this feature
tracks well south of the cwa. northwesterly flow aloft will set
up over the region throughout the extended period. mid-level
moisture within the flow improves by mid-week. therefore...kept
slight chance pops over local mountain ranges for wednesday and
beyond. spread low pops over the western zones on saturday as a
shortwave trough tracks overhead. the upper-level ridge shifts
further eastward for sunday and therefore removed pops. blended
temperature forecasts with the raw gfs. cold temperatures will
linger especially over eastern zones on tuesday. a gradual
warming trend is expected for wednesday and beyond. schuknecht

areas of freezing fog will persist over the forecast area through
mid-morning. fog will be dense at times with visibilities down to
1/4 mile. light snow is expected to become widespread during the
day on sunday. expect widespread mvfr conditions with localized
ifr conditions into early monday. snow is expect to begin
tapering off across the forecast area monday morning/afternoon.
